Tihar: Jailed Bengaluru man may have extorted Rs 200 crore
NEW DELHI: The case of extortion involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar Play Bazaar just got bigger with police sources confirming on Tuesday that the amount extracted by the Tihar Jail inmate from his victims was Rs 190-200 crore. This is the highest sum extorted not just from jail, but by any criminal in Delhi till date. A day after TOI reported the sensational extortion carried out from the jail — the amount was initially estimated at Rs 50 crore — the case was transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), given the complex and humongous financial angles involved in it. Satta King The enforcement directorate is also learnt to have started a parallel probe. The victim belongs to a top business conglomerate. EOW is expected to seek help from professional forensic finance analysts in the matter.
